Our Interior Design Process

As detailed below and explained here by Tricia, one of our talented Interior Designers, we have a simple step-by-step process to help you realise your design vision.

1. Defining the Brief

Upon receiving your initial inquiry, we schedule an initial meeting, either in our showroom or at your project site. This first step allows us to connect with you, understand your aspirations and goals, and identify any budgetary or physical constraints impacting the project. If you are collaborating with an architect or builder, we'll also review their plans during this meeting. With a clear understanding of your vision and project parameters, we will then provide a comprehensive fee proposal for our interior design services. This proposal will outline the steps necessary to transform your vision into reality.

2. Creating the Concept

On acceptance of the fee proposal, we develop a concept; a core idea that will inform all our design decisions. We will prepare a mood board and concept themes, which we will present to you before deciding on the final direction for the detailed design plans.

3. Developing the Design

With a confirmed design concept aligned with your goals, we will further refine it, showcasing detailed material and colour palettes plus proposed fixtures and fittings etc. At this stage we check colour brushouts, fabrics etc on Site and make changes where necessary

4. Detailing Specifications and Costings

At this stage, we prepare detailed specifications and costings for all elements. This is the critical stage, where we finalise all details before moving to final specifications and procurement.

5. Supervising on Site

On-Site Site supervision allows us to make sure the design is built as documented. We are available as much or as little as required to ensure the end result is as designed.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Spatial Design, Tricia has worked with homeowners, architects, and property developers on a wide range of interior design projects, both in her own interior design company and for the last 7 years at Lahood. A Professional Member of The Designer's Institute of New Zealand, through the years Tricia’s work has won multiple awards with The NZIA Resene Architecture Awards plus NZ Kitchen and Bathroom Design Awards.

Nelléne Vorster

Interior Designer, BSc Interior Arch.
Nelléne, an interior architect with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture, brings over 15 years of expertise to her role at Lahood Window Furnishing. Proficient in conceptualization, space planning, and project management, her passion for innovative design enhances the customer experience and product offering.
