Refreshing Window Trends from Lahood® For Spring

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your home interiors with new window curtains or blinds.  We asked our award-winning interior designer Tricia Dunlop to share some of her thoughts on a few key trends this Spring for custom-made curtains and blinds:

Nature’s Best: Linen curtains are a popular choice for Spring. The natural fibres are breathable, sustainable, and create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere in your home. Light, airy and flowing, Linen is a great choice for warmer months, cooling the temperature by allowing airflow, whilst filtering the harsh sunlight. Linen’s durability and moisture tolerance are perfect for New Zealand conditions and the trending colour palette of soft greens, pale browns, neutrals and off-whites draw inspiration from our natural environment.  The 100% Linen fabric from the Kyoto range is a perfect choice, with samples available in Lahood's Showroom at 104 Mount Eden Road, Auckland.

Fresh Florals and Foliage:  Floral and foliage prints are perfect for introducing a Spring-like feel into your home. Soft greens, pinks and earthy hues are on-trend and bring a freshness to any environment. Make an impact with full-length curtains or use roman blinds to add subtle elegance.  The beautiful Painted Canvas collection from Prestigious Textiles is one of the many nature-focussed designs available at Lahood Window Furnishings with the Canopy Seashell and Garden Wall designs both on display in our Showroom so included in our FREE CURTAIN MAKING OFFER

Shimmering Sheers: Sheers are a go-to option for curtains for warmer months with their airy, light-filtering quality.  Whilst perfect for a natural, paired-back look we are also seeing an increasing demand for a more glamourous curtain statement with sheers featuring glistening sequins and foiled motifs.  The Sparkler Sheer is a popular option and currently on display at our Showroom, so is also included in our FREE CURTAIN MAKING OFFER

Double the Effect: A strong trend for windows is the combination of curtain sheers with blockout roller blinds to allow natural light during the day and privacy at night. If space or preference do not allow for sheers, dual roller blinds will achieve a similar effect with a sunscreen providing light and UV protection during the day and a blockout blind providing darkness and privacy at night. Automated window blinds are more popular than ever, and can be programmed to open and close depending on the time or temperature within your home. The Lahood Showroom at 104 Mount Eden Road, Auckland  features a range of blind displays with automations for you to try out.

The twin bracket system from Lahood enables the functionality and versatility of two blinds on one window.

When refreshing your windows with curtains and blinds this Spring consider the overall aesthetic of your home, the desired mood and the impact on other elements in your room. Offering a complete interior design service beyond just windows, Tricia can provide guidance on how to ensure your Spring refresh perfectly reflects your style.
